Kolo Togbe is 9 years old. She's a primary three student of Anglican Primary School, Adekunle, Yaba. She lives in Oko Agbon, Makoko, 6°29′44″N 3°23′39″E.
Makoko is a neighbourhood across the 3rd Mainland Bridge located on the coast of mainland Lagos.
Despite living in a less privileged environment, Kolo's responses in my conversation with her showed that she's an intelligent lass.
Apart from the oversight view I always have on the Third Mainland Bridge anytime I'm going to the Island, I have never been to Makoko. I went to Makoko for the first time and I was very afraid with what I saw.
"How do you guys live here", I asked Kolo who was justling for front view position in a rectangular window shape of an elementary school where gifts and food items were donated to the people of the community.
She said: "This is our environment, we never chose to live here, we were born in this place, so there is no where we can call our home, except this place"
To Kolo's reply to my question, I'm still thinking.
