Can’t we just leave God alone?

Perhaps that is how it is in other religions or societies, I don’t know but the situation has become so common and perceptible in our society even among the so called Christians that they don’t see anything awful about it – I mean the way people call God in things that He is not involve at all, even when they’ve perpetrated their nefarious acts, they still involve God as their testifier. They say “Olorun Oba ngbo”, “I swear to God”, “To God who made me” and all sorts of religious clichés to fiddle their partner.

If a guy wants to date a lady but does not know how to go about it, the guy will come to the lady and tell her that the spirit of God told me we should start dating. Just like that! Even when they feel like quitting the relationship when they are tired of it, they will say again the Lord said we should separate for now. If this is true, nobody can say.

What about some pastors that claim God is leading them when they themselves know that God has never spoken anything to them. They turn 2 hours service into 4 - 5 hours in the name that God is leading them, they call out members to donate unto God as if God runs a Non Governmental Organisation.

After preaching in bus stops, garages, and buses, they still beg the passengers and passers-by to give them something in the name of God, Is God a beggar?

Because our politicians know that an average electorate in the country is gullible, they also come to them in the name of God as if God is the INEC Chairman. They say “in the name of God, if we win this election we will build schools, hospital and all sorts”

Perhaps that was the reason our First Lady was also shouting “There is God ooo”, “There is God ooo”, “There is God ooo”, when she was addressing women from Borno State, as if we don’t know that there is God.

I am not saying that we should not be calling God when we need Him but we must call Him on right platform not to be using His name to swindle people all around. Just as the Bible says that let your “Yes be yes and No be No” you don’t need to call the name of God before people can believe you because God is not a lie or a son of man that should repent, He says what he means and means what He says.

If you want to date a girl that you have an interest in,  I don’t think you need to call the name of God into the process of dating the lady and I don’t also think that will make the lady to say yes, even if you want to break up the relationship, don’t tell your partner that God tells you to break up the relationship. Our God is not an author of confusion.

Please let’s just live God alone.
Thank you,

Seye Joseph
