Multiple Twaales to the “SIMON-taneous” Simon

At a recent gathering that was tagged “Functional Social Media” for Editors, Omoyele Sowore of Sahara Reporters made an axiomatic statement that got me thinking on the advent of social media to reinventing the wheel of journalism, he said “the profession of journalism is not changing, it has changed. It is you that is not changing”

What this statement means is that the moribund ways of running traditional journalism is not dying, it’s dead already; journalists, journalism institutions and media practitioners must unlearn those antiquated and archaic practices; learn and relearn the new ways of gathering and reporting news beyond the 5Ws and H through the social platforms.

Simon Kolawole former Editor of Thisday Newspaper is the armed man that is using information technology to redefine the practice of journalism through his cable newspaper that was launched last week: www.thecable.ng that will deliver knowledge-driven journalism in the pursuit of Nigeria’s progress from the basis of knowledge, with fact and reason.

The award winning journalist and writer has setting the pace trailing the blaze and setting the pace for journalism and new media.

Multiple kudos sir.
